Brooker Memorial held a Golf Ball Drop Fundraiser to benefit the United Way of Northwest Connecticut. There were 183 tickets sold. The winning ball, landing closest to the cup, was #796, belonging to Melanie Kandefer. Congratulations Melanie! Melanie and the United Way each walked away with $280!

The United Way of Northwest Connecticut held their annual Leader’s Circle Event on Thursday, July 21st in order to thank givers for their donations. The event was held at the American Museum of Tort Law in Winsted and featured hors d’oeuvres, catered by Chatterley’s, light music, provided by Jacque Williams, as well as an array of beers and wine donated by Ledgebrook Spirit Shop, A Gallo and Company, Joanne Donne, and the Washington Agency. The most loyal United Way givers celebrated the aid their generous donations have helped provide. Representatives from United Way agencies: Maria Coutant-Skinner of the McCall Center for Behavioral Health, Christina Emery of LARC, and Debra Borzellino of Community Mental Health Affiliates, attended and spoke of the programs these donations have funded for the surrounding community. At least 50 people attended including JoAnn Ryan, Chairperson of the United Way Board of Directors, Gail Olsen, Co-chair of the United Way Leader’s Circle Division, Joyce Muse, Vice Chair of the 2016 Campaign, and Jeff Geddes, Chair of the 2016 Campaign. An ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) update on the state of housing in Connecticut has been made available by the United Way of Connecticut.
