Grant Requirements

While the United Way of Northwest Connecticut has not run a fundraising campaign since 2019, the incredible generosity and support of our donors have truly made a difference. Thanks to both our loyal supporters who continued to give and the new donors who joined us along the way, we are thrilled to share that United Way NWCT has $100,000 available for grant funding in 2026. We are excited to open the Letter of Inquiry application process to agencies that meet the following requirements:

Must be a 501 (c) 3 in good standing that provides programs in the United Way of Northwest Connecticut’s 26 town area: (Bantam, Barkhamsted, Canaan, Colebrook, Cornwall, Cornwall Bridge, East Canaan, Falls Village, Goshen, Harwinton, Lakeville, Litchfield, Morris, New Hartford, Norfolk, North Canaan, Pine Meadow, Pleasant Valley, Riverton, Salisbury, Sharon, Torrington, West Cornwall, West Hartland, Winchester Center, Winsted)

Programs should align with United Way of Northwest Connecticut’s Community Impact areas: Healthy Community, Youth Opportunity, Financial Stability, and Community Resiliency, with a focus on, but not limited to, ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) individuals and families or others marginalized by systemic barriers. They should aim to enhance health and well-being, build financial security across generations, support youth in reaching their full potential, address pressing community needs and align with the following impact areas:

All residents in NW CT have opportunities for economic self-sufficiency for themselves and their families..

Letters of Inquiry will be reviewed by the end of March and invitations for organizations whose programs align with the United Way’s Impact areas with a focus around ALICE, will be invited to apply starting April 6, 2026.
