Providing New Winter Clothing for Local Children in Need

Warm The Children is a heart-warming partnership that brings our community together to ensure that every child in Northwest Connecticut has the warm winter clothing they need. This long-standing program is neighbors helping neighbors — with 100% of every donated dollar going directly toward clothing children for the winter months.

How the Program Works

Families With Children in Need Are Identified Through Trusted Local Agencies

Children and families who need assistance are referred to the program by community partners who work directly with local families every day, including:

These agencies confirm need and provide family contact information to the Warm The Children coordinator.

How Clothing Is Purchased

Once a family is referred, the Warm The Children coordinator pairs them with a volunteer shopper. Together, they meet at Walmart to select new winter coats, boots, hats, gloves, and warm clothing for each child.

  • Children age 4 and under may receive up to $60 in new winter clothing
  • Children age 5 and older may receive up to $80
  • Walmart bills Warm The Children directly for the purchased items
  • There are absolutely no administrative fees — every dollar donated buys warm clothing for a child

Why Your Donation Matters

For many families in our community, winter can be an especially difficult season. Heating costs rise, budgets strain, and warm clothing becomes an urgent need. Warm The Children ensures that every child — regardless of circumstance — has a warm jacket, proper footwear, and the dignity of choosing new clothing that fits and feels good.

Your gift goes straight to the children.
Your generosity keeps a child warm, safe, and confident throughout the winter.
