On Wednesday, August 23rd, The United Way of Northwest Connecticut held our annual Leader's Circle Event to thank our givers for their donations. This year's appreciation event took place at the picturesque Inn at Mount Pleasant Bed & Breakfast in Torrington, making use of their stunning barn as the main entertainment space. We were also lucky enough to have Marzano's Wood Fired Pizza Truck cater the event with an amazing selection of gourmet pizzas, as well as by Jeff Geddes of Torrington Savings Bank, Joanne Donne, and the Washinton Agency, who were generous enough to provide donations of beer and wine. The tunes of the talented band Almost Bluegrass set a jovial tone for the evening, setting the mood for this celebration of our most loyal givers and the aid their generous donations have helped provide.
Attendence included representatives from United Way agencies such as Greg Brisco, CEO of the YMCA, Deirdre DiCara, Executive Director of F.I.S.H., and Katherine Marchand-Beyer, Director of Community Support for LARC. These speakers gave everyone a more intimate look into the workings of the programs that these donations fund in the surrounding community, and reminded us why what we and our givers do as a team is so important.
At least 50 people attended in total including JoAnn Ryan, Chairperson of the United Way Board of Directors, Gail Olsen & Jeff Geddes, Chairs of the United Way Leader's Circle Division, Joyce Muse, Chair of the 2017 Campaign, and Carla Dubois, Chair of the 2018 Campaign. We'll make sure to have an event that's just as exciting next year, maybe even better!
Thank you again to every one of our Leader's Circle Members. We absolutely, truly could not do any of this without you.
