Anne Frank wrote in her diary "No one ever became poor by giving from the heart." That's an impactful statement from a teenage girl struggling to survive during World War II. We've come a long way since 1944 but giving from the heart to help others will never go out of style. As Chair of the 2016 Northwest Connecticut United Way annual campaign, I'm seeking your support for the life changing programs and services your United Way investment makes possible in our community.
Your investment allows the United Way to focus on local education, health and financial stability issues. The unmet needs of children at risk, families struggling with mental health issues, substance abuse and those unable to provide themselves with the most basic needs continue to exist throughout the Northwest Corner. State budget cuts have impacted human services, addiction services and mental health services significantly yet the needs in our communities are greater than ever.
"Helping People in Northwest Connecticut Care for One Another" is the United Way's mission. Your investment allows the United Way to do this through supporting member agencies, performing community outreach and offering enrichment programs. Through your generosity, our United Way is making a difference in the quality of life in Northwest Connecticut.
Won't you join me this year and give from your heart to the United Way of Northwest connecticut? What better legacy can we leave than giving hope and an opportunity to heal to those in need?
Your support is more important now than ever before.
