This committee meets four to five times per year. Its purpose is to review board term limits and identify prospective community members to fill vacant board positions. The committee is responsible for interviewing potential candidates and making nomination recommendations to the Board of Directors.
The Campaign Committee provides leadership and strategic guidance for United Way of Northwest Connecticut’s annual fundraising campaign. The committee helps set campaign goals, engages volunteer and community leaders, and cultivates workplace, corporate, and individual giving initiatives. Committee members serve as ambassadors for United Way, actively promoting its mission and impact while cultivating and stewarding donors through phone calls, in-person meetings, and community engagement. Members help strengthen relationships with businesses and community partners and play a key role in donor outreach and relationship-building. The Campaign Committee also assists with planning special events and fundraising activities and works closely with staff and the Board of Directors to monitor campaign progress and ensure the campaign’s success in advancing community impact. The Campaign Committee meets once a month.
The Campaign Cabinet Committee is a volunteer leadership group of respected community, business, and civic leaders who provide strategic guidance and visible support for United Way of Northwest Connecticut’s annual fundraising campaign. Members serve as ambassadors for United Way’s mission by engaging businesses, cultivating new and existing donors, and encouraging companies to run employee giving campaigns. Cabinet members play an active role in supporting and participating in special events, assisting with donor outreach both in person and by phone, and helping to recruit and motivate campaign volunteers. They collaborate closely with staff and volunteer leadership throughout the campaign cycle to advance fundraising goals and strengthen community partnerships. The Campaign Cabinet meets once a month.
The Allocations Committee oversees the review and evaluation of funding requests from partner agencies and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding the distribution of United Way of Northwest Connecticut’s community funds. The committee ensures that donor dollars are invested responsibly, transparently, and in alignment with United Way’s mission and community priorities. Allocations committee meets once a month, could be a little more when we are looking at funding applications
The finance committee meets monthly. They are responsible for overseeing the financial health of the United Way of Northwest Connecticut. The committee reviews financial statements, including revenue and expenses, monitors budget performance, and provides financial oversight to ensure fiscal responsibility. The Finance Committee works closely with staff and the Board to support sound financial planning and informed decision-making.
