Campaign Chairman


Jeffrey Geddes

Senior Vice President, Torrington Savings Bank

Mr. Geddes has over 30 years of banking experience, including 23 years managing the bank's residential and consumer lending program. A United Way Board member, he also serves on the Board of the Litchfield Hills Micro Loan Fund administered by the City of Torrington.  He's a member of the National Association of Realtors, CT Association of Realtors, and Litchfield County Board of Realtors, where he serves on their Public Relations Committee.

Joyce Muse

Director of Business Development, Photo Arts Printing Company

Joyce volunteered in several divisions since 2004 before assuming a Cabinet leadership role as a Small Business Division Co-Chair in 2011.  Now, she assumes the role of Campaign Vice Chairman to prepare her for becoming the Campaign Chair next year. She has also volunteered for the yearly Citizens' Review process that oversees annual agency allocations.  Joyce volunteers for the Tour of Litchfield Hills, a bike/walking event that raises funds for the Center for Cancer Care, and donates to St. Jude's Telethon.

Christine Bascetta

Vice President, Commercial Lending, Torrington Savings Bank

 Christine is a Torrington native who joined Torrington Savings Bank in July of 2014 to assist in the launch of the Commercial Lending Department.  Christine earned her Bachelor's degree at Clark University in Worcester, MA, and her Master's degree at the University of Chicago.  Currently residing in Harwinton, she enjoys giving back to the community and northwest corner.  She currently serves on the Baord of the Northwest CT Chamber of Commerce and participates in various other community events and associations.

 

Attorney James Steck

Ebersol, McCormick & Steck, LLC

James Steck is a Partner in the law firm of Ebersol, McCormick & Steck, LLC, located in Torrington. He is also a Zoning Enforcement Hearing Officer for the City of Torrington.  A Torrington resident, he and his wife Michelle have two sons. As President of the LARC Board of Directors, Jim is able to appreciate the value and impact of the United Way in the local community. He is also Vice President of the Board of Directors of Torrington Affordable Housing, Inc, Secretary of the Litchfield County Bar Association, serves on the Board of the Torrington Area Youth Service Bureau, and is a member of the Torrington/Winsted Rotary Club. In his spare time, he's an assistant coach for his sons' baseball and soccer teams.

  JoAnn Ryan

President, Northwest Connecticut Chamber of Commerce

JoAnn lives in Torrington.  She began her volunteer career with the United Way in 1978 as a Commercial Division worker.  JoAnn has served in many roles, including Major Firms Division Co-Chair and Marketing Committee. JoAnn champions many other charities: LARC, Girl Scouts of America, Nutmeg Ballet, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, The Warner Theatre, the NW CT Arts Council, Torrington Historical Society, Torrington Library, Torrington Rotary Club, Special Olympics, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, American Cancer Society, The Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, and the Northwest CT YMCA. She was honored as the United Way's Woman of the Year at the May 2013 Women's Gala.

Jessica Wright

Prevention Supervisor, McCall Foundation

Jessica joined McCall in 2012. She received her Bachelors degree from Quinnipiac University and her Masters in Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University.  She previously worked for three years as a Community Educator for the Susan B. Anthony Project. Her focus is helping families and teens. A lifelong Torrington resident, she enjoys giving back to the community. In September 2014, she received the “Community Awareness and Education Award”  from CMHA's Substance Abuse Action Council for her outstanding commitment to improving the lives of Connecticut residents. She also graduated from the Northwest CT Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Northwest program, where she currently serves as a program advisor.

Education

Michelle Anderson

Program Coordinator, Torrington Family Resource Center

Michelle has been the Family Resource Center (FRC) Coordinator at Vogel-Wetmore School in Torrington, CT for the past 15 years.  It is a program of Education Connection, the regional education service center in Western Connecticut.  In addition to the FRC, she serves as the Homeless Outreach coordinator.  In this role, she works closely with the schools and agencies that are serving children and families experiencing homelessness.  She also provides training on the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance act for local providers and schools.  In addition, she promotes awareness in the community on the issue of homelessness through education and outreach.  Michelle is involved in numerous statewide initiatives and local boards dealing with children, family and educational matters.  She holds a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Connecticut and has worked in the field of education and families since her career started over 20 years ago.  She resides in Litchfield with her husband and two children.

Doreen Roy

 Northwest Hills Credit Union, Inc

Doreen has worked at the Northwest Hills Credit Union for 23 years.  She's volunteered for several organizations, serving on committees and boards at the Northwest CT Chamber of Commerce,  March of Dimes Walk America Committee, NW CT Human Resources Association and the Torrington Lions Club.  Currently, she's President of the Moran/Nixon Chapter of the Credit Union League of CT in Meriden, CT and also serves as a Corporator at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Doreen lives in Barkhamsted with her husband Bill of 35 years.  They have a son Michael, a daughter Meredith Cutler and a son-in-law U.S. Marine Sgt. Brenden Cutler, who's currently stationed at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA.  

Alan Colavecchio

Owner, Colavecchio Designs

Alan plays an integral role in the development of United Way annual campaign brochure. He also devotes much of his volunteer efforts to the Gilbert School Board of Directors, American Mural Project, Republican Town Committee, and is an active member of his church.

 

Small Business

Michelle Teodorczyk

Assistant Branch Manager, Northwest Community Bank

Michelle is a wife and mother of three who makes her home in New Hartford and has been employed by the bank for 17 years. She was a Small Business Division volunteer for New Hartford from 2007-2009, and in 2010 was promoted to Small Business Division Co-Chair.  She participates in Walking for Diabetes, March of Dimes, and New Hartford Days. 

 

Melissa Root

Branch Manager, Litchfield Bancorp

Melissa came to Litchfield Bancorp in 2001 with 2 years banking experience. She began as a full-time teller at the Litchfield office, where she was later promoted to Assistant Branch Manager. In January 2012, Melissa was promoted to Branch Manager in the Torrington Office.  In June 2013, she was promoted to Assistant Vice President. Melissa is a graduate of the Connecticut School of Finance and Management.

For many years Melissa has served on the small business campaign for the United Way, and in 2013 was named Campaign Volunteer of the Year. She's also a member of the Northwest CT Chamber of Commerce WOW committee, a Leadership Northwest graduate, and a member of their Young Professionals group.

Gail Olsen

Owner, Ducci Kitchens

Gail re-joined the Board of Directors in 2013 after a hiatus since 2001, but has a long history of volunteer service with United Way.  She's been a volunteer for several campaign divisions and since 2002 has acted as panel chair for the Citizen's Review process which oversees how funds are distributed to United Way agencies. Gail chaired the Women's Leadership Initiative from 2012-2014, and remains an active committee member.

John Lavieri

President, Sterling Engineering Corporation, A Subsidiary of Air Industries Group

John lives in Barkhamsted with his wife Corky.  They have seven children, 15 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.  a lifelong citizen of Barkhamsted, John has been active in many local, regional, and business organizations.  He served on the United Way board in Winsted, and on the board of the United Way of Northwest Connecticut after the Torrington-Winsted consolidation.  He has served as a campaign volunteer for the United Way for many years, and as a Campaign Co-Chair with Cathy Coyle in 2014.
