In 2011, the United Way of Northwest Connecticut initiated a process to update a community-wide Needs Assessment after discovering that a comprehensive needs assessment hadn't been done since the late 1980s.
The final product, published in 2012, is the 2012 Community Health Needs Assessment. This publication was a collaborative effort of the United Way of Northwest Connecticut, Torrington Area Health District, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, and the Connecticut Department of Public Health through a CDC Community Transformation Grant, and was prepared by the Center for Healthy Schools & Communities at Education Connection.
The Assessment covers a range of topics such as demographics and the health status of residents, including diseases, health-related programs and services, and key findings. It will no doubt be extremely useful for residents and professionals alike. The United Way is proud to have played a role in bringing the project to fruition.
