Caring The United Way

NOVEMBER

2007

Let's all CHIP IN, the......22 local agencies in Northwest Connecticut!

CAMPAIGN MEETS GOAL

The 2007 United Way of Northwest Connecticut campaign ended on a high note with campaign Chairwoman Sherie Power reporting a total of $937,110 raised, exceeding the $936,000 goal.  Over 120 volunteers joined Sherie in the celebration at Cornucopia Banquet Hall on November 1, 2007.

Sherie Power publicly thanked James Mazzarelli, Goshen resident and President of the Action Wildlife Foundation for making the largest individual gift in the United Way’s history.  Sherie said, “We learned a week ago that a major contributor would cut their gift by at least half and it would cause us to miss our goal.  Our campaign team didn’t give up and it reminded me daily of the childhood story ‘The Little Engine That Could’. I attribute this year’s campaign achievement to our dynamic and energetic campaign team, exceptional cooperation from the corporate community, the business community, our Leader’s Circle, local employees, and a caring community that traditionally works for people in need. Rob Joyce of Cable 5 deserves the community’s thanks for developing and providing an outstanding campaign video, which focused on our Campaign theme, “Lets All Chip In, the United Way, 22 agencies in Northwest Connecticut”. He captured the essence of our United Way and its mission.”
