JoAnn Ryan
President, Northwest CT Chamber of Commerce
JoAnn lives in Torrington. She began her volunteer career with the United Way in 1978 as a Commercial Division worker, was a Major Firms Division Co-Chair from 2001 to 2010, and recently joined the Board of Directors. She currently serves on the United Way’s Marketing Committee. JoAnn has championed many other charities that help improve the quality of life for our families here in Northwest Connecticut, including LARC, Girl Scouts of America, Nutmeg Ballet, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, The Warner Theatre, the NW CT Arts Council, Torrington Historical Society, Torrington Library, Torrington Rotary Club, Special Olympics, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, American Cancer Society, The Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, and the Northwest CT YMCA.

Matt acted as Campaign Vice Chairman of the 2008 campaign. He has been a campaign worker for the Major Firms Division and co-chaired the Direct Response Division. As a United Way Board member and Publisher of the Register Citizen, Matt contributes a tremendous amount of publicity in helping to relay the United Way message to the communities it serves. In 2011, Matt was recognized with a lifetime achievement award from the United Way for the community impact projects he has helped begin including the Diaper Drive and Warm the Neighbors.
